Return policy.
Fourteen days to change your mind on any watch bought remotely, and a lifetime guarantee against inauthenticity. Here is exactly how it works.

- Effective
- 1 July 2026
- Applies to
- All remote purchases
- 14 days to return any watch bought online or by phone, for any reason at all.
- The watch must come back as it left: unworn beyond trying it on, complete, tags intact.
- Return shipping is on us, insured, and the refund lands within five business days of inspection.
- Inauthenticity is refunded in full, forever, with no time limit and no restocking fee.
01Your 14-day right to change your mind
If you bought a watch from us online, by phone or by email, you have 14 calendar days from delivery to return it for a full refund. You do not need a reason, and we will not ask for one.
This is our own policy and sits on top of your Australian Consumer Law rights; it applies even when there is nothing wrong with the watch.
Watches collected in person from the showroom are excluded, because you had the chance to inspect the piece with a specialist before buying. Consumer guarantees still apply in full to those purchases.
02Condition on return
The watch must come back in the condition it left, which means:
- Unworn beyond trying it on. Sizing the bracelet is fine; a fortnight of daily wear is not.
- Complete. Box, papers, spare links, tags and any accessory that came with it.
- Unaltered. Not serviced, polished, engraved, or opened by anyone else.
- Security tag intact, where one was fitted.
If a returned watch shows wear beyond inspection, we will contact you before doing anything. We may deduct the cost of restoring it, or return it to you, and we will always explain the assessment and show you the photographs it is based on.
03How to start a return
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 · Tell us | Email info@watchdistrict.com.au or call, quoting your order number. Same business day, no questions. |
| 2 · We send a label | An insured, prepaid courier label, covering the full value. Do not use your own courier, or you would be uninsured. |
| 3 · Pack it | Original box inside an outer carton. Nothing on the outside should indicate a watch is inside. |
| 4 · We inspect | Within two business days of arrival. We photograph everything on opening and share those photographs with you. |
| 5 · You are refunded | Within five business days of inspection, to the original payment method. |
04Refunds
We refund the full purchase price including original delivery, to the method you paid with. Bank transfers are returned to the account they came from, since we cannot redirect a refund elsewhere, which is a fraud-prevention requirement rather than an inconvenience we have chosen.
There is no restocking fee. Card surcharges are refunded along with the purchase price.
Depending on your bank, funds can take a further one to three business days to appear after we process the refund.
05Faulty watches and consumer guarantees
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if they fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
A watch that stops keeping time within the warranty period, arrives damaged, or does not match its description is not a change-of-mind return; it is a failure, and the 14-day window does not apply.
Tell us and we will arrange insured collection at our cost. Where the failure is major you choose between refund and replacement. Where it is minor we will repair it, and we will tell you honestly which category we think it falls into and why.
06Authenticity guarantee
If a watch we sold you is ever shown to be inauthentic, we refund the full purchase price plus reasonable costs you incurred establishing it.
No time limit. No restocking fee. It applies to whoever owns the watch, not only the original buyer, because a guarantee that dies on resale is not much of a guarantee.
Authenticity is determined by the manufacturer or an independent authority we both accept. We have never had to honour this clause, and we intend to keep it that way.
07What we cannot accept back
- Watches collected in person from the showroom, for change of mind. Consumer guarantees still apply.
- Watches altered after delivery, whether polished, serviced, engraved or opened elsewhere.
- Bespoke or special-order pieces sourced specifically for you, where we told you at the time and you agreed in writing.
- Returns started after the 14-day window, for change of mind. Faults and authenticity are never time-limited.
If you are outside the window and unhappy, contact us anyway. We would rather find a solution than stand on a clause.
08Trade-ins and part exchange
Where a watch was part-exchanged, a change-of-mind return unwinds both sides: we return your original watch and refund any cash you paid. If we have already sold your trade-in, we refund its agreed trade value in cash instead.
We hold every trade-in for the full 14-day window before offering it for sale, precisely so this stays possible.
09International returns
Overseas buyers have the same 14 days. Return shipping and insurance are ours; import duties and taxes you paid on the way in are recoverable from your own customs authority, not from us, and we will supply whatever documentation they need.
International returns must be declared accurately as returned goods. We cannot advise on your local tax treatment.
Starting a return
Email or call and we will send an insured, prepaid shipping label the same business day. You do not need to explain why.
