Terms & conditions.

These terms govern your use of watchdistrict.com.au and every transaction between you and Watch District Pty Ltd (ABN 82 352 508 267). By placing an order, requesting a valuation, or selling us a watch, you accept them.

If you are transacting on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it.

A listing on this site is an invitation to treat, not an offer. A contract forms only when we accept your order in writing and your payment clears.

• All prices are in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable.
• We stock a single example of most references. A watch can sell between your enquiry and our reply, and we will tell you promptly if it has.
• We photograph every watch ourselves. Screens vary, and a dial may read slightly differently in person.
• If a watch is listed at a manifestly incorrect price (a decimal in the wrong place), we may decline the order and refund you in full. We will not do this to escape a merely unfavourable deal.

Every watch is inspected in-house before listing. That inspection covers case, dial, hands, movement, bracelet and clasp, and cross-references serial and reference numbers against manufacturer records where available.

Where a watch has been serviced with non-original parts, or has an aftermarket component, we state it plainly in the listing. We do not sell replicas, franken-watches, or pieces we cannot authenticate. If we cannot satisfy ourselves that a watch is genuine, we decline it.

We grade condition consistently across every listing so the words mean the same thing each time.

Every listing states the grade and describes any specific flaw. Photographs show the watch as it is, unretouched.

Every mechanical watch we sell carries a 12-month Watch District warranty covering the movement against defects in normal use. This runs alongside, not instead of, your Australian Consumer Law rights.

The warranty covers repair or, if repair is not viable, replacement or refund at our election. It does not cover:

• Water damage, unless the watch was sold as water-resistant and was not opened or serviced elsewhere.
• Damage from impact, misuse, or unauthorised servicing.
• Normal wear to the case, crystal, bracelet or strap.
• Battery replacement on quartz movements after the first year.

Any remaining manufacturer warranty transfers to you where the manufacturer permits it. We tell you in the listing when it does.

We accept bank transfer, credit card, and, for transactions above $50,000, arranged escrow. Card payments attract the surcharge shown at checkout, which is what our processor charges us and no more.

Title in the watch passes to you when funds clear in full. Risk passes on delivery. We hold a watch for 48 hours against a confirmed order without payment; beyond that it returns to stock unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.

We ship fully insured within Australia by secure courier, requiring signature on delivery. Delivery is free on all watches. International shipping is arranged case by case, and duties and taxes in the destination country are yours to pay.

We aim to dispatch within two business days of cleared funds. Delivery timeframes we quote are estimates, not guarantees, though we will tell you promptly if something slips.

Collection in person from our Little Collins Street showroom is welcome, by appointment, with identification.

A valuation we provide is an estimate based on the information you give us, and is not binding until we have physically inspected the watch.

• Our written offer stands for seven days.
• On inspection, if the watch differs materially from your description, we may revise or withdraw the offer. You get the watch back at our cost if you decline the revision.
• You warrant that you own the watch outright, that it is free of any security interest, and that it is not stolen.
• We check every incoming watch against stolen-property registers. We report suspected stolen goods to Victoria Police, and we cooperate fully with any investigation.

Payment is made within one business day of you accepting our offer, by bank transfer.

Nothing in these terms limits those rights. Where a term of ours conflicts with the Australian Consumer Law, the law prevails.

To the extent permitted by law and subject to the section above, our total liability arising from any transaction is limited to the purchase price of the watch concerned.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profit or loss of opportunity, for instance a change in the market value of a watch between purchase and resale.

The content of this site (text, photographs, layout and code) belongs to Watch District, except brand names and trade marks, which belong to their respective owners.

We are an independent dealer. We are not an authorised dealer for, nor affiliated with, any of the manufacturers whose watches we sell. Brand names appear here to describe the goods, nothing more.

Our photographs may not be reproduced without permission. If you buy a watch from us, you may of course use our photographs to resell it.

Tell us first. Most disagreements resolve in a phone call, and we would rather have that call than a letter from anyone.

If we cannot resolve it between us, these terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and both parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. You may also contact Consumer Affairs Victoria at consumer.vic.gov.au.

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your transaction is the one published when you placed your order, and we keep prior versions on file. Material changes are notified by email to anyone with a live transaction.
